The inductive boundary-layer hardening and remelting techniques developed by SMS Elotherm have become essential ingredients ensuring the wear-resistance of crankshafts and camshafts in the production of both gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines.

Depending on the exact requirements of our customers, we supply fully automated crankshaft hardening machines for in-line integration or complete, stand-alone hardening centers with their own recooling plants, testing equipment and additional peripherals. Our automated transfer hardening machines are particularly suited to processing components for the automotive industry such as axle journals, threeway supports and other jointed components. By using specially designed retooling kits, it ispossible to quickly change from one component family to another.
Apart from the numerous common applications of induction heating there is also a range of less frequent fields of application. Our research & development and production team are pleased to take over the planning and realization of complete special-purpose machines. Thanks to the use of tried-and tested standard components combined with the experience and skills of our engineers, we can develop special-application machines that exhibit the same benefits as our standard machines. |
